Microsoft launches Messenger TV

Published by Lev Detrez under news, technology, video, web 2.0

When I say ‘jump’, you say ‘how high’…
When I say ‘video’, you say ‘YouTube’…

Since the launche of YouTube, it has become THE place to be for online video’s.

This week, Microsoft launched Messenger TV, a European innovation that brings together two of the most popular activities online – watching videos and chatting on Windows Live Messenger.

This new service allows users to watch video’s together with your messenger buddies while chatting. Microsoft wants to create a new online video experience. The content will include MTV Shows and videoclips. Messenger TV will launch in 20 countries, excluding the US of A and Belgium (ofcourse).

EDIT: Okay, now Belgium can watch TV via Messenger too! We’re checking it out!

This looks like the new feature Streams of YouTube. For now, it’s only in TestTube.

Read alla bout it on the microsoft website

Published by Lev Detrez under internet, technology, video

Flickr users can now add video clips alongside their photos, a much requested and much anticipated feature that has been promised for over a year.

‘A YouTube clone!’ I can hear you think.
Well, it’s not.

Read all about it on TechCrunch

A great new feature, I guess, but I’m not sure if I was waiting for that.

Live stream from Next Web Conference

Published by Lev Detrez under internet, technology, web 2.0

As not all fans live in or nearby Amsterdam, we’ve come up with a solution. We’re going to live stream it. We’re serious here, this is not a live stream with a mobile client using Qik or Ustream, no this is the real stuff. We’ve teamed up with NOS, Cross Media Ventures, Team.tv, and TechCrunch (media partner), to make this stream available for thousands and thousands of people, no matter where you live. The infrastructure used here is similar to the infrastructure used for massive events like upcoming European Soccer Championships and the Olympic Games, so we’re prepared for huge crowds.

Oh yeah
