Google Earth on a Wii

Soon, when our ranch is completed, the Cowboys will have a Wii. Besides playing the Wii, we can also try out all kinds of new stuff… for example; Engineer David Phillip Oster’s Earth Surfer, an open source application that allows you to surf through Google Earth.

Looking forward to that!

Chrome: new browser by Google

Published by Lev Detrez under brands, internet, open-source

FYI: I’m currently using the brand new Google browser Chrome to write this blogpost. I’m not going to do a test or a review, you can read that here: ZDNet, Dutchcowboys, and almost everywhere else.

You can download the new browser here

I like:

  • the speed
  • the suggestions when you type in an URL
  • the incognito modus
  • ‘end proces’ option for every single tab
  • The fact it’s open-source

I don’t like:

  • yet another browser to test your webdesigns
  • I don’t want to give up Firefox and all of his plugins (Especially Ubiquity)
  • The google-colors; just like Google Docs and Gmail: it looks cheap to me.
  • All the curious eyes on my laptop today, because there is not a Mac version yet.
I wonder when we will start noticing the use of Chrome in Analytics.
Will it do better than Firefox and IE?

8 million downloads

Published by Lev Detrez under internet, open-source

Thanks to the support of the always amazing Mozilla community, we got more than 8 million Firefox 3 downloads in 24 hours. That’s more Firefox downloads than we’ve ever had in a single day — an impressive feat indeed!

Please be patient while the good people of Guinness review our World Record attempt. This might take a few days so please check back here.

And, a huge thanks for all of your support!

If you haven’t done it yet, do it now: Get Firefox 3

Download Firefox 3 on Download Day and break a world record!

All you have to do is get Firefox 3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours – it’s that easy. We’re not asking you to swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although that would be kind of awesome.

The official date for the launch of Firefox 3 is June 17, 2008. Join our community and this effort by pledging here today
