YouTube goes 16:9
If you haven’t noticed yet: YouTube’s videoplayer is bigger from now on (960px). Good news for the 16:9 videos, no worry for the smaller videos who are already online; they will play just fine in this new player.

Richard Seymour about design
Yesterday, the Cowboys organized an event for stair lift producer Stannah. Richard Seymour, co-founder of the London based Seymour-Powell product design agency, gave an inspirational talk about design. Seymour-Powell created some of the most iconic products of the last 25 years, including the world’s first cordless kettle, pocket mobile phone and Bioform Bra.
Beside the fact that Seymour looks like Lemmy from Motorhead, his presentation was very interesting and straight to the point. In other words, Richard is a big man…
This movie shows another presentation by Seymour at Coventry University where he talks about the challenges and responsibilities of designers in the future.

RefSeek
Back in the days, there were two young students who were looking for a better way to search the internet. Today they are known as Google. But over the years, google is searching a little bit too good. Millions of personal websites, business websites, e-shops, videos, pictures… When you’re looking for academic information, it would be helpfull to eliminate these overload of information.
Say ‘hi’ to REFSEEK!
Refseek is Google for academic use. It looks even more simple than Google. It does not claim to find more than Google, au contraire my friends; it eliminates results not related to science, research and academia. It’s made for students and researchers.
Here’s the test:
I searched ‘Egypt’ in Google…
- 1st result: Wikipedia
- 2nd and 3rd: Travel to Egypt, Egypt tours
- 4th: Pictures of egypt
- 5th: Egyptian monuments
- Lot’s of ads about travelling to Egypt
Now I searched ‘Egypt’ in RefSeek
- No ads
- 1st result: wikipedia
- 2nd: ancient-egypt.org; an interactive book about Ancient Egypt
- 3rd: African Studies: Egypt
- 4th: National Geographic
Notice the difference?

T-shirt selling TV
Another great concept by webguru Gary Vaynerchuk and his little brother AJ: PleaseDressMe.tv! He talks about T-shirts and adds links to the website where you can buy it. Interesting concept, great TV. The episode is almost 20 minutes and It was not boring. I bet lots of T-shirt makers wants to see their T-shirt on the show!
Watch the show here (and move your mouse over the T-shirts they’re wearing to get more info!)
