UGC case: ‘Weerwoord’

Published by Lev Detrez under UGC, video, web 2.0

Interesting case about User Generated Content in Holland.

Dutch rapper Typhoon opened a YouTube channel where youngsters can send in a reaction on a video about their generation. In this video, people where asked what they think about ‘the youth’; lazy, crazy, alcoholics, … and so on!

Watch the video:

Now Typhoon offers ‘the youth’ a chance to respond on this ‘insulting’ video. They can post a youtube video where they can agree, or disagree with the reputation of their generation. Typhoon will create a new music video with the best (most original) responses.

Why this UGC thing can work:

  • The original video is very one-sided. The people in it are extremely negative about the youth. This makes it easier to respond.
  • Typhoon is an icon for youngsters, so they feel adressed.
  • YouTube is a medium for young people. It’s very easy for them to create a video and post it.
  • In the end; your video can appear in a real music video and can be aired on MTV. This is the prize you can win when you upload your video!

Kinepolis declares war on piracy

Published by Lev Detrez under legal

Kinepolis will give you a reward of 5 DVD’s when you can caught somebody filming a movie. You can warn the police by SMS. This might be more effective then the stupid not-skipable trailers on a DVD that tells you that ’stealing movies is a crime!’

It reminds me of the IT Crowd:

Hans Teeuwen is back

Published by Lev Detrez under comedy, internet, video

Today, www.hansteeuwen.tv was launched, an online ‘theater’ with video and audio from one of Holland’s finest stand-up comedians Hans Teeuwen. The site is not amazing, the videos on the other hand… crazy!

Hans Teeuwen looks like he’s been using drugs since he was baby, but I like his arrogant, straight to the bone style. I hope it will be updated regulary.

Fun fun fun!

I like ‘x’ + you like ‘x’ = I like you!

Published by Lev Detrez under Social Networks, brands, web 2.0

How about a dating site where you can meet people who have same brand-preferences. If you like Nike, Snickers and Kandoo… you’ll probably get along with someone who likes the same… I guess(?)

Try it out on http://www.branddating.nl/
